The days when you had to get out of the comfort of your car to open and close your garage door are long gone. Fortunately, technology enables us loads in terms of comfort, all thanks to garage door openers. LiftMaster has an exceptional range of such quality devices, but even the best ones have issues from time to time. When your key opening device is not working as well as it should, there are a few troubleshooting checks you can take a look at to solve this.
Safety Sensor Issues
If your garage door comes down part of the way and then goes back up again, or if it just won’t close at all, there could be a problem with the safety sensors. Chances are the sensor eye is blocked by something. Check it for dirt and any other obstruction. In case your door still isn’t working properly, look for a blinking light on one of the sensors. If you see this happening, it means the sensors aren’t properly aligned. Loosen one until they are aligned again and you should be able to run your garage door as smoothly as before.
Opener Remote Not Working
The remote is the key to open and close your garage door at the touch of a button. Occasionally however, it may not work. One of the most obvious things to troubleshoot are its batteries. Check the batteries or replace them with new ones. If that doesn’t work, try to open the door from the wall panel. In case this still doesn't solve the problem, there may be a more serious issue requiring the attention of a qualified technician.
Garage Door Won’t Open Or Close Properly
One other common problem that often comes up is that the door won’t open or close all the way. Chances are you will need to reset the door’s limits. You can locate limit dials in your LiftMaster opener, in the motor housing and adjust it accordingly.
